Syria, a nation in the middle east, is renowned for its wealthy way of life and astounding norms that have persisted in modern times. One of those customs is the syrian wedding, a luxurious event with several wholly original rituals that carries the weight of several dreams woven by the bride and groom for their special occasion.

While most Syrian couples today follow a more Western-inspired wedding ceremony, some still hold on to their grandparents’ customs. An arada band director from the Old City of Damascus, a grandmother from the Jaramana neighborhood in the mixed town of Salamiyah and a teacher from the Idlib district tell Syria Today that their families still practice some of these traditional marriage ceremonies.

Syrian guys has show interest in a female to her relatives before asking for her hand in marriage, just like in other faiths. If accepted, the guy and his household syrian ladies are required to give her household the dowry, a sizeable sum of money.

The wedding and her relatives did procrastinate at her house for a member from her husband’s household to occur when the moment comes to getting married. The representatives will then escort the bride and her family to their new residence, where meals, beverages, and puddings will be served to them. The yalam, a traditional Assyrian Chaldean Syrian performance tone, did then start to be danced by attendees.

Usually, one woman leads the yalam while two other women alternately dance. The brides likely become escorted back to their auto at the end of the evening and sent off with a song, applause, and screaming.
